Besides your parents, who has had the biggest impact in your life?
Most likely your response would include an adult from your school, whether it is a teacher, coach, principal, nurse, counselor or custodian. These are our unsung heroes.
There are many teachers that will continue to teach for many more years, possibly never realizing the countless gifts they are passing on to their students. By their very nature they are givers. They work long hours and make numerous sacrifices as they shape young minds.
The field of education is a calling for those who are passionate. In their efforts to do the best job possible they sometimes forget to take care of themselves. As we are reminded by flight attendants “if the cabinet loses pressure and you are travelling with a small child, please put your mask on first,” we often have to remind those selfless educators to take care of themselves sometimes. Now is the time, as the year comes to an end, for our dedicated educators to put their masks on. This is an opportunity to take a well-deserved break from the day to day demands of leading young learners. Wish them well, turn off the lights, close the door behind you and exhale. You have made it through another semester.
Relax and reconnect with family and friends. Come back refreshed and renewed. Make the most of the time you have to reflect on a job well done. Never underestimate the value of what you do. People will not always remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel.
From all of us at National Life Group, we would like to wish you a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
