Arjelis is a middle school teacher at Children’s Community School in Waterbury, Connecticut. Her colleague, Sue Mellitt, nominated her for her extraordinary commitment to her students.
Arjelis has had great success in educating and inspiring at-risk and economically disadvantaged students to achieve greatness in school and life.
We surprised her at a morning assembly in the school gym, where the room overflowed with cheers and tears. Arjelis received a $5,000 individual cash prize and another $5,000 for her school. Her students also gifted her a beautiful, handmade poster filled with messages of love and appreciation.
