When you think of the month of March, what comes to mind? The color of green and all the fun festivities set for the St. Patrick’s Day holiday? March 2 is also known as Read Across America Day where hundreds of school districts, educators, parents, and family members stop what they are doing to honor Dr. Seuss by taking time out to read this day. The allotted time scheduled for reading may be planned for 30 minutes, an hour, the entire day, or even the entire week. Some schools host virtual book fairs or read-a-thons for their classroom students. Educators might even celebrate by encouraging their students to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character and read aloud their favorite Dr. Seuss book to their classmates.
